Saves you hundreds of euros.
A phone with Bluetooth does the same job as a download key costing hundreds of euros. For a driver card, an ordinary USB smart-card reader will do.
- External download unitA unit for the vehicle starts around €250. You need none.
- Overpriced USB keyA download key runs €300 to €400. It goes away.
- Monthly feesNo fleet software and no licence to renew.
What you do need.
- A company cardThe download is authorised by a company card inserted in the unit, with the ignition on. Your national authority issues it — and the law requires you to hold one anyway.
- A generation 2, version 2 tachographOnly G2V2 units offer Bluetooth. They are mandatory in international transport: over 3.5 t since August 2025, vans over 2.5 t since July 2026.
- A phoneAn Android phone with Bluetooth. Nothing else is needed to download from a tachograph.
White or yellow? What is the difference?
Company card — yellow
The tachograph is downloaded every 90 days and the yellow company card unlocks it. A tachograph is normally locked and releases nothing without one.
Driver card — white
A driver card is downloaded every 28 days, through a USB reader or through the tachograph. Going through the tachograph needs the yellow card inserted as well.
- Tachograph
- Downloads the vehicle unit's data over Bluetooth. Tested with VDO units, with full compatibility and functionality confirmed. All modern generation 2 units are supported.
- Driver card
- Reads the card through a USB reader or through the tachograph, keeps the .DDD file on the phone and lays the activities out day by day.
- Deadlines
- Tracks the 28-day card and 90-day tachograph download deadlines with a countdown and a warning.
- Driving and rest times
- Checks the card against Regulation 561/2006 — daily and weekly driving, breaks and rest periods. Where the card recorded nothing, it says so instead of claiming all is well.
Get Tachography
After installing you will find a sample driver card and a sample tachograph download inside. You can see what the data looks like and go through the whole app without a vehicle and without downloading anything.
The app needs no internet, no download key and no remote server, contains no advertising or tracking, and needs no account.
